In the beautiful movement studio at CORE El Centro overlooking Walker’s Point, women, men and children are forming community as they partake in wholistic exercise classes. Under the guidance of licensced movement instructors, interpreters, and CORE El Centro’s staff, clients learn to move their bodies in healthy ways and find creative ways to express their emotions. Yoga consists of a variety of postures to exercise the body and breath as well as the mind. Each class consists of mindful stretching and ends with a relaxing period, leaving you with a feeling of peacefulness and rejuvenation. No matter your age or physical abilities, yoga uses what you have to make you healthier in body and spirit. Beginner and intermediate classes are offered as well as kids’ classes. We also offer yoga for people with cancer and other chronic diseases.
Meditation and yoga improves concentration, increases energy, reduces stress and enhances overall health. This class starts with stretching and yoga postures and is followed by various meditation techniques. Participants will learn to go beyond a thinking mode and random thoughts to quiet their brains to find peace and feel centered.
Belly Dance Dance modality combining smooth and fluid movements, dissociating and coordinating the different parts of the body at the same time.
Conscious Dance is a form of exercise that combines the martial arts, dance arts and healing arts. It is a cardiovascular fitness program designed for FUN! This is an energizing, refreshing way to move “the body’s way”--- naturally. Appropriate for all fitness levels and all ages, Conscious dance is easily adapted encouraging students to work in comfort and ease.
Creative Movement Designed for adults with physical and/or mental disabilities, this class is full of playful movement.
Ageless Grace exercise focuses on the healthy longevity of the body and mind. These exercises are for all ages and are designed to be performed seated in a chair.
Zumba, a fusion of Latin and International music/dance themes, creates a dynamic exciting, effective fitness system! The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body.

Beginner Ballet Children will be introduced to some of the basics principles of terminology of Ballet.

Adaptive Yoga Therapy and Mindfulness for Cancer and Chronic Illness- A guided Yoga experience designed to honor the needs of each individual student exactly where they are in treatment and recovery. In a safe and comfortable atmosphere, we will explore movement, breathing and meditation practices as tools to access the innate wisdom of our own bodies and make empowered choices in healing. Developed by a nurse from evidence-based research, the intention of this offering is to teach self-regulating techniques that can relieve the distressing side effects of cancer and chronic illness physically, mentally, emotionally and energetically while offering joy in daily living.
