In the beautiful movement studio at CORE El Centro overlooking Walker’s Point, women, men and children are forming community as they partake in wholistic exercise classes. Under the guidance of licensced movement instructors, interpreters, and CORE El Centro’s staff, clients learn to move their bodies in healthy ways and find creative ways to express their emotions. Yoga for kids Yoga for kids is fun for all ages! By practicing yoga, we are strengthening the body through physical activity. The teachings of yoga encourage us to not just simply move the body in space, but to be aware of why we are doing it, and how it makes us feel. Kids learn yoga through all types of fun activities including games, songs, stories, art, sensory experiences, as well as traditional asanas and meditation.
Adaptive Yoga Therapy and Mindfulness for Cancer and Chronic Illness is a guided Yoga experience designed to honor the needs of each individual student exactly where they are in treatment and recovery. In a safe and comfortable atmosphere, we will explore movement, breathing and meditation practices as tools to access the innate wisdom of our own bodies and make empowered choices in healing. Developed by a nurse from evidence-based research, the intention of this offering is to teach self-regulating techniques that can relieve the distressing side effects of cancer and chronic illness physically, mentally, emotionally and energetically while offering joy in daily living.
Ageless Grace exercise focuses on the healthy longevity of the body and mind. These exercises are for all ages and are designed to be performed seated in a chair. Especially good for people who have restricted movement, joint, weight or diabetic challenges.
Conscious Dance is a form of exercise that combines the martial arts, dance arts and healing arts. It is a cardiovascular fitness program designed for FUN! This is an energizing, refreshing way to move “the body’s way”--- naturally. Appropriate for all fitness levels and all ages, Conscious dance is easily adapted encouraging students to work in comfort and ease.

Qi Gong (or ch’i kung) is an ancient Chinese system of exercise that combines stretching movements with deep breathing and intentional mental focus. Benefits of regular practice can include reduced blood pressure, increased strength, flexibility, improved energy, mental clarity.
Yoga consists of a variety of postures to exercise the body and breath as well as the mind. Each class consists of mindful stretching and ends with a relaxing period, leaving you with a feeling of peacefulness and rejuvenation. No matter your age or physical abilities, yoga uses what you have to make you healthier in body and spirit. Beginner and intermediate classes are offered as well as kids’ classes. We also offer yoga for people with cancer and other chronic diseases.
WERQ (pronounced "work") is a cardio dance-based fitness class that combines easy to follow moves with the hip hop and pop songs you know and love. WERQ starts with a head-to-toe dancer's warm up to prep the body for movement and preview some key moves. Then the instructor guides participants through easy to follow routines set to songs like Bruno Mars "Perm". The instructor will offer two intensity levels to choose from. The class ends with a yoga inspired cool down intended to bring down heart rate, strengthen balance and stretch. All levels and abilities are welcome.
Zumba, a fusion of Latin and International music/dance themes, creates a dynamic exciting, effective fitness system! The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body.
