Health Fair / Family Fiesta

What is the Dia De La Mujer Latina Family Festival?
Its mission is to celebrate the Latina woman and her family by promoting health awareness and information within a fun-filled family fiesta. It’s about creating a space where community can be formed, health screenings can be done, and health resources can be shared.

The day’s events focus on nutrition, exercise, stress relief and wellness. It’s about celebrating the Latina woman and the family in a culturally competent way.
 
Why does CORE/El Centro host the event?
  • We believe that living a healthy life style is important to the health of the individual, family and community.
  • We believe that this type of health fair/fiesta is important and specific to the culture of the Latino community thus promoting opportunities for the Latino community to explore health and wellness.
  • We believe that we need to bring services to an underserved population.
  • We believe it is important to celebrate life fully.
 
Who are the partners?
CORE/El Centro and the American Cancer Society co-host the event. Various other health groups support the event by participating in the fair and/or by providing various screenings.

What are the services that are being provided?
Health Assessments and health screenings.
