Bodywork
The manipulation of muscle and connective tissue to enhance the function of those tissues and promote relaxation and well-being. Therapeutic massage can ease tension and reduce pain. Massage can be a part of physical therapy or practiced on its own. It can also be highly effective for reducing the symptoms of arthritis, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and other disorders of the muscles and/or nervous system.
Swedish Massage is the most common and familiar to people. It is known to be relaxing and to have great physical, emotional and spiritual healing benefits. The practitioners use their fingers or palms to release soft tissue and muscle tension, improve circulation and release endorphins (the body's natural painkillers).
Neuromuscular Therapy combines trigger point release work with general massage strokes. NMT is specifically designed to work with all areas of the body especially those that are typically problem areas (such as lower back, shoulders, neck, legs, arms).
Acupressure is an ancient healing art which uses finger pressure on specific points to unblock, balance, or increase the circulation or chi energy in the body. Acupressure can be effective in treating symptoms of stress. Various acupressure points are often used in combination with other forms of bodywork.
Myofascial Release is a gentle therapy consisting of a mixture of light stretching and massage strokes. It is a safe therapy that can be used as a preventive method or to promote the healing of an injured, stiff or painful muscle. This therapy can also treat chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, severe tension, anxiety and repetitive stress injuries.
Prenatal Massage is therapeutic bodywork which focuses on the special needs of the mother-to-be as her body goes through the dramatic changes of pregnancy. This therapy helps to reduce lower back pain and the build-up of fluids in the hands and feet. It also reduces stress, anxiety and depression that can be caused by the hormonal changes occurring during pregnancy.
